Homeowners Take Advantage of Solar Panels ‘Gold Rush’

It has been a busy month for the solar panels industry as many homeowners look to take advantage of the higher solar panel grants before they are cut.

Feed In Tariff Set to Be Cut to 21p per kilowatt…

Last month, the news came that the Feed-In Tariff cuts would not come until at least March and thus the industry expects to see a ‘gold rush’ as homeowners look to install solar panels before the cut off point.

Under the Feed-In Tariff, homeowners who have installed MCS registered panels in their home can earn money from the electricity generated from the sun. The subsidy cut was set to come about in December. The announcement however was unexpected and thus deemed illegal. As a result, the Court of Appeal ruled the cuts would come not until at least March.

Solar panels companies expects to see a surge in sales as many homeowners look to install their solar panels before the new cut comes into play. Any homeowner who has solar panels fitted in their home before March will benefit from the higher Feed-In Tariff which currently stands at 43.3p per kilowatt whilst any homeowner who installs their solar panels after the given date will earn just 21p per kilowatt.

Any homeowner who does wish to install solar panels in their home and benefit from the solar panel grants must ensure their panels are MCS registered. Many sites make it easy to compare prices on initial installation prices. Solar Panels Prices, for instance, has a three quote system in place which offers free, no obligation quotes from MCS registered suppliers.
